I also spun a little-- mostly on a spindle and a bit on the wheel; I managed to get the Gotland started, and it likes to be spun very thin, so I suspect this is going to be a long-running project.
But this week is really about the last 36 hours, in which I unwrapped, assembled, and warped my loom, and then began with the weaving.
But I did wait, and I warped my loom with some 100% sport-weight alpaca I've had in the stash for about 4 years. The red hasn't had a previous incarnation, but the blue was 2/3 of an ill-fated tank-top once upon a time. Warping took awhile, and there's a part where you cut the yarn, and Devin totally had to talk me through that part, because in my life cutting an entire skein of yarn in half is Not OK. But, it turns out, it's fine in weaving. (At least, it's working out so far.)
Regardless, I'm glad I let the ladies at my local spinning shop talk me into ordering a stand; the loom takes up my whole desk, and while that's fine through tomorrow, it's not really a long-term solution.
So, we all know what my new obsession is going to be... what's yours?
