In any case, I'm not a vegetarian. But, I do have a serious yarn problem, which falls at the intersection of graduate school and a small apartment. To quote from A Little Yarn on the Side:
For a compulsive yarn buyer, the challenge [is] to buy NO yarn at all, rather than trying to become all reasonable about the yarn buying thing, which the knitter has probably long-since proved he or she can't do anyway. Similar to "going cold-turkey" when trying to quit smoking, but makes more sense as what does turkey have to do with smoking OR knitting, unless one smokes the actual turkey, but I think that's a different kind of smoking.......
I thought by keeping track of the yarn that came in I would be able to control myself. I thought if I made that record public, I would be able to control myself. I thought if I flashed my stash, I would get a fucking grip. Not so much. So:
I'm keeping the 4:1 ratio of removing : acquiring skeins I decided on at the beginning of April... and I'm adding a NO BUYING clause, except in the case of a lack of yardage for a project on the needles, and with a small exception made for the two fiber festivals I'm planning on attending this summer (I'll have a seriously small budget for them as it is). This means I can continue swapping (26 out to date!), but will hopefully maintain a net loss over the course of time.
Today's the first day. Wish me luck, and will power, and speedy needles!
