|clean cup, move down||
I didn't blog last week, and I came very close to not blogging today. The fact of the matter is that I have a ridiculous number of WIPs competing for my limited time and attention, and so even though many of them get a little loving during the week, there's not a lot of discernible progress on any one project. Also, work is still somewhat out-of-control, so sometimes I only get maybe a row or two of a sock done per weekday (on the commute to work. On the way home I'm so fried I think I'm just sort of holding my knitting for comfort). And I ended up abandoning my Gotland spinning project, which is causing me a lot of guilt and angst-- frogging (which I also did this week) doesn't usually cause me too much anguish, but for some reason I really, really hate walking away from a spin, even if I'm hating every minute of it and actively avoiding my wheel, which is what was happening with the Gotland. So, I took it off, and walked away, and am happy to send two braids of Gotland to someone if they want to give it a try. This is the second time I've tried spinning Gotland, and the second time I've hated it... I think it maybe just doesn't agree with me. Like knitting with mohair. In the meantime, I've got some palette cleansing Polwarth on the wheel, from one of my hands-down favorite dyers, and spinning has once more become my go-to calming activity.
I'll throw in a couple pictures now-- I have been working on Devin's socks, Dad's socks, our long-overdue chuppah, Mom's sweater, Mom's slippers (which are 15 rows from being done), and the shawl that got ripped back entirely... but I don't have pictures of everything, so you'll have to take my word for most of it. I also don't (yet) have pictures of the rather gigantic stash enhancement that happened at Stitches West, which has set my cold-sheep counter back to zero...
1. ... had a seriously crazy week at work. I'm still in recovery, so I'm blogging in list form today.
2. ... frogged something. And destashed the yarn. Someone pinch me next time I pick up laceweight mohair.
3. ... cast on two things. And maybe a third thing. One of them was on the list though.
5. ... spun very little. But that's still better than not at all.
What was your week like?
Since I'm aiming for July with this list, a monthly check-in seems reasonable... or it did until I actually took a look at it and realized that the only thing I can cross off (so to speak-- Weebly doesn't support crossed out text, go figure) is the thing that I put on the list so I could have the satisfaction of crossing it out right away (other people make To Do lists like that, right? With the occasional item you've basically already done?).
On the other hand, I cast on and finished a project this week that's not on the list. And I'm thinking about a pair of socks, which are also not on the list. And maybe three gifts for three of my colleagues who have made this school year feasible...
Yeah, this WIP-down is going well.
Anyway, all links go to my Ravelry project page, and from there you can find the pattern pages, yarn pages, etc.
